Fortune Manning At Interlaw AGM In Buenos Aires

Fortune Manning partner Rob Coltman has returned from Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he attended the 2011 Interlaw AGM hosted by its member firm, Brons & Salas.
Fortune Manning is the sole New Zealand member of Interlaw, an international association of independent law firms in 125 cities across the globe.

The conference dealt with climate change/natural disaster issues and the development and utilisation of natural resources in South America in the light of those issues.  This explored carbon trading as a pre-requisite to mineral exploitation and related matters.

Rob delivered a presentation entitled “How the Insurance Industry will Survive Environmental Disasters”, which followed a first-hand account from the Tokyo member about the reduction of energy consumption following the loss of electricity generation post the Tokyo earthquake and tsunami.

Rob comments that the interest in New Zealand by Argentinians was extremely high.  Helped by their love of “Los All Blacks”, it was a perfect time to visit Argentina, and indeed a perfect time for New Zealand businesses to explore opportunities in that vast country and the South American continent generally.
