Geoff is the firm's senior litigation partner and our insurance team leader. He has 29 years as an insurance and civil litigator at High Court and Court of Appeal level.
Geoff has broad experience in acting for insurers in fire and general claims, property claims, marine claims, public liability and goods product claims, professional negligence, and has a speciality niche in reviewing and drafting new policy wordings or one off major special risks. He has been called upon to give expert defence evidence for other insurers as to proper course of solicitor's conduct in solicitor's negligence cases.
In addition to servicing Fortune Manning's insurance clients, Geoff also advises on a wide range of commercial and private clients on disputes and where necessary undertakes litigation on their behalf.
Geoff is also a part of Fortune Manning's transport team. Geoff has, over the years, acted for transport operators both large and small, on a wide range of transport matters. In more recent times Geoff has concentrated his efforts in the transport industry sector in acting for the National Road Carriers Inc and the Road Transport Forum Inc
Geoff is also instructed by a number of national sporting bodies and sportspeople and provides advice on sports disciplinary issues including, in particular, the prosecution of drug/doping infractions.
Fortune Manning is the New Zealand member firm of Interlaw, an international association of 48 independent law firms in 75 commercial centres. Geoff is an active participant in Interlaw matters and facilitates cross-border investment and commercial opportunities for Fortune Manning clients with the clients of other Interlaw firms.
