Community Service in LawSenior Associate, Shafraz Khan was recognised in the recent New Zealand Law Awards as a finalist in the Community Service in Law category. Shafraz has in the past year been highly involved in the re-development of Mangere Centre Park. The park is used by various sporting and community groups. In 2005, the clubrooms and hall of the park burnt down. Since then, the Mangere Centre Park Sports Association has planned and fund-raised for the construction of new facilities. Shafraz has been actively involved in all aspects of this project from the fund-raising, grant applications, tendering to the building process and assisting the Association in several disputes that have arisen. This has been a tremendous project for a small community. The facilities are due for completion in 2010. In addition, Shafraz has had involvement in the Mangere United Football Club, the New Zealand Muslim Sports Association, the Auckland Tavua Sports and Cultural Organisation and the Manukau Sanatan Sports and Cultural Association. Shafraz is also actively involved in raising money for flood victims in Fiji and Pakistan, and earthquake victims in Haiti. As a firm, we are very proud of Shafraz's contribution to his community and all his achievements. |
