Shafraz completed his LLB at the University of Waikato. After completing his degree he worked in Fiji for nearly two years specialising in insurance litigation before returning to New Zealand in 2004 and practicing at a suburban firm in Auckland.

Shafraz practises in the litigation department and undertakes all areas of litigation. His areas of speciality include transport law, insurance law and civil litigation.

Shafraz works with Cathy Bormans in the transport team where he provides advice on a wide range of matters including driving offences, vehicle loading, log book charges, owner driver and distribution contracts, dangerous goods and road user charges. Shafraz appears frequently in Court in respect of matters ranging from pleas in mitigation to status hearings and defended hearings.

With respect to insurance law, Shafraz works in the insurance team headed by Geoff Turner and Paul Smith where he undertakes insurance and general litigation. He undertakes work for insurers which includes advice on indemnity, negligence, contractual interpretation and recovery in all levels of Court.

Shafraz also provides general litigation advice to Fortune Manning's commercial clients in the areas of insolvency, insurance, liquidation, and general commercial and civil litigation work including debt recovery and landlord and tenant disputes.
